Ah, wedding invitations. These little pieces of paper say so much in a tiny little package. Things like 'we're in love', 'time for a rockin' party', 'we're lucky enough to afford a party', 'my day to be princess'. Even though we're not quite at the date picking stage, wedding invitations are a fun thing to research. We'll be taking the inexpensive yet challenging route for wedding invitations; we want to make our own.
Now that the Xyron has arrived, we've been looking around at different styles of invitations. There are so many to choose from! No matter what you like, what you're into or where you're getting married, rest assured that there is a set of invitations especially for you.
Now don't get me wrong... there are a whole bunch of butt ugly invitations out there as well. Not everyone can have good taste. ;)
Right about the time we started this blog, Keith and I went to a bridal show at the Dulles Expo Center. If you haven't guessed already, wedding invitations and planning is big business. I thought I had the best repellent by telling folks our wedding will be in the West. Didn't work. They continue to bug me to this day.
On the plus side, we did take a bunch of great invitation photos to get an idea of design. We have already settled on chocolate brown and baby blue for our colors. I tended to be drawn to wedding invitations with these colors, but style
varied from elegant, flowery, simple or Vegas-chic.
(Sorry if the pics are kinda dark. Waiting on the new iPhone with a better camera!)
I really enjoyed seeing some of the destination wedding invitations. There were a ton of invites that focus on weddings on the beach. All the bridal magazines say that many couples are opting for a destination wedding so their guests will make it into a vacation.
That's what appeals to Keith and I the most. Not only can we get married in a
place that means something to us as a
couple, but we can create a fantastic vacation for our very
hard working
families.
Plus, being so away from everyone, we'd really like to make the most of our time together. Perhaps we can even get both sides of the family to get to know each other a bit? Just a thought.
Got ideas? Leave a comment. We'd love to hear what you think.
papers are not only an important part of choosing an invitation, often they turn out to be the most important,on a par with the printing process. You can also go online to look at websites of invitation designers who often have very different ideas than what would be viewed at a bridal show
